The Project Visioning Process & Green Road Synagogue
In August 2021, we completed the project for Green Road Synagogue and its congregation. After 50 years the synagogue was in need of a renovation. We worked with the congregation and its leaders to make the difficult decision between demolishing their long-standing synagogue or starting anew. studioTECHNE was brought in to utilize our expertise and analyze the existing facility as well as study options for renovating vs building a new synagogue.
We began with the process of discovery - the Project Visioning Process. For GRS, this meant a series of on-site meetings, observations, and discussions with the congregation and its leaders. Having these personal interactions are critical for our design process. As we developed the building design, those discussions formed our concepts around preserving the past and incorporating it into the present ensuring the new building is a tribute to the families who built the original Green Road Synagogue and that this is a place that honors all of those who were lost.
