studioTECHNE | Architects was Designated as Ohio’s Early Professional Plus Friendly Firms 2022

This month, studioTECHNE was designated as one of Ohio’s Early Professional Plus Friendly Firms 2022.

About AIA Ohio’s Newest Program

This past February, AIA Ohio developed a new program to “celebrate firms who offer exceptional support and opportunities for their early professionals (EP)”. The program hopes to not only recognize these firms but also spark conversations about and around policies and practices that promote innovation and progression in the workplace. 

According to AIA Ohio, “The goal of this program is to celebrate firms who offer exceptional support and opportunities for their early professionals. Additionally, the program seeks to foster a dialogue within firms across the state with the objective of creating new policies and practices that promote innovation, development, and progressive workplaces for the future members of the design profession.” With this award, there were 2 designations EP Friendly Firm Designation and EP Friendly Plus+ Designation:

  • EP Firm Friendly Designation (passing score of 70%)

  • EP Firm Friendly Plus+ Designation (passing score of 80%)

 
 

Education, Development + Ownership

studioTECHNE is a teaching studio. In order to meet the needs of our clients, and the demands of the practice of architecture,  it is important for us to mentor our young professionals in order to invite innovation and build awareness around the requirements to successfully implement design solutions for our clients.

Early professionals are often pigeonholed into narrow aspects of project development. To avoid this, we make a concerted effort to provide our staff with experiences that develop a holistic skillset and allow them to determine their areas of interest. We believe it is important they understand the complete practice of architecture and the interconnectedness of decision making.  

Supporting people is nonlinear. The development of engaged, creative individuals also has to understand and support their personal development.  In order for our EPs to approach our clients with curiosity and empathy, we need to model that within the studio, approaching each other on a daily basis in an encouraging and supportive way. The development of this has been led by Kelly Stinson, who has worked thoughtfully to implement workplace guidelines and policies that align with our culture, values, and beliefs.
